Keeping mum about KC now

MANILA, Philippines—Piolo Pascual said publicly admitting that he was courting young actress KC Concepcion was “a bad decision.”

“And admitting it on national television was reckless,” the actor told Inquirer Entertainment during an interview aboard luxury yacht SS Cinema One, venue of last week’s birthday party for Piolo hosted by Cinema One, SkyCable’s premiere Pinoy movie channel.

“I realized that if I want to be in a romantic relationship with someone like KC, I have to be very private about it para hindi masira,” the actor explained. So many people reacted to what I said, that KC and I almost quarreled about it. From now on, I will keep quiet about whatever we have.”

Piolo and KC were last seen in the defunct Kapamilya show, “Lovers in Paris.” The actor reportedly fell in love with the daughter of Megastar Sharon Cuneta while working on the drama series. “I want everybody to know that I did not [admit my true feelings for her] just to promote the show,” Piolo stressed.

’Kimmy’ sequel

Piolo said production of the sequel to the box-office hit and Eugene Domingo starrer, “Kimmy Dora: Kambal sa Kiyeme,” which he is co-producing under Spring Films, is now in full swing. Joyce Bernal is directing and Chris Martinez (director of “100”) is writing the script.

“We’re doing an ocular inspection for the film,” said Piolo. “We hope to have the sequel shown before the year ends. The sequel will be titled ‘KD3.’ Part 2s don’t always do well, so we skipped it and went straight to the third.”

There’s no word yet whether GMA 7 contract artist Dingdong Dantes, who played Eugene’s lover in the movie, will still be cast in the sequel. “We made him co-producer of the first film. We’re open to including him in the next project if he still wants to,” said Piolo.

He added that his production team is working on another “baby,” which he hopes to exhibit in theaters next year.

Piolo turned 33 on Jan. 12. “I slept through my birthday, ” the actor recounted. “Our shooting for the Ninoy Aquino episode of ‘Maalaala Mo Kaya’ finished late on Jan. 11. The crew arranged an impromptu birthday party for me that lasted until early next morning.”

For the whole month of January, Piolo’s films, including “Lagarista” (2000) and “Chopsuey” (2007), were aired on Cinema One. “Kimmy Dora” will have a special screening this summer in Boracay.

On Feb. 3, Piolo had a post-birthday bash with his fans at the CCP Complex bay terminal in Manila. The party had a color theme: white and navy blue.

Piolo’s supporters witnessed the breathtaking view of the sunset on Manila Bay, enjoyed gourmet cuisine, played games and took souvenir photos with their idol.

Asked about his birthday wish, the actor said, “With the blessings I’ve received, I just want to be able to pay back, and also pay it forward. I’m not blessed because I deserve it, but because there’s a reason for it. This is the year that I share whatever I have.”
