KC gets own star in pinoy walk of fame

KC Concepcion just flew in from the United States last Tuesday with jetlag and all, yet she was still able to find time to be at the Eastwood City for the Walk of Fame rites, where her star was enshrined together with those of other showbiz luminaries both young and old. And this year’s roster includes her father Gabby Concepcion.

How does it feel to be a part of the Walk of Fame?

“It was unexpected. Iba pala ‘yung feeling. Nakikita ko lang iyan dati, ‘yung iba’t-ibang pangalan ng mga artistang kilala ko at hinahangaan ko so it’s a nice thing to be part of this. Maganda rin ang feeling na makita ang pangalan mo na parte ka na nito and to know who are the other people I am with here at Walk of Fame. I feel proud and honored,” said KC when we got to talk to her at the event.

It was through her manager Shirley Kuan that KC learned that she’s part of the latest group of inductees to the Walk of Fame, which is a project of showbiz’s Master Showman German Moreno.

“It’s very fulfilling to have that respect and to have earned that star even if I am just new in the business,” said the eldest daughter of Megastar Sharon Cuneta.

Other stars who were inducted to the Walk of Fame who were present that night were actress-producer Armida Siguion Reyna, Jose Mari Chan, Danny Javier, Jim Paredes and Buboy Garrovillo, Rey Valera, Ogie Alcasid, Janno Gibbs, Cherry Pie Picache, Jaclyn Jose, Aiza Seguerra, John Lloyd Cruz, Christian Bautista, Basil Valdez, Manila Vice Mayor Isko Moreno, Jolina Magdangal, Jed Madela, Dingdong Avanzado, Ricky Davao, Hajji Alejandro, and Niño Muhlach.

Because of the huge crowd ogling at the event, we didn’t get to see if boxing champion Nonito Donaire was there. But Sarah Geronimo failed to make it because she was abroad, while departed Starstruck 2 Sole Survivor Marky Cielo was also given his star in Walk of Fame.

What added to the thrill was that KC was being inducted together with her Papa Gabby whom we failed to see at the event, although we were told that he was there. “I didn’t know he’d be a part of this, so I am really surprised,” said the lead actress of ABS-CBN’s soap opera “Lovers in Paris.”

According to KC, she’s set to do a movie with Star Cinema and she’s very excited since she had been waiting for this new project. But she can’t give details yet because Star Cinema has yet to present a script, the casting and the director.

KC is happy with the good feedback that she’s getting in “Lovers in Paris.”

“Of course, natutuwa talaga ako. We’ve been working on this for 8 or 9 months na. Pag nandoon ka na sa work, hindi mo na naiisip na trabaho. Pero pag na-appreciate nila ang trabaho namin, kahit na noong nasa LA at Las Vegas ako, talagang Vivian ang tawag nila sa akin so, nakakatuwa na sumusuporta ang mga tao. Sobrang nakakataba ng puso na may mga nanonood talaga so lahat ng pagod mo nawawala,” she said.

Apl.de.Ap has crush on KC Concepcion?

MANILA - Actress KC Concepcion said she is "honored" that the lone Filipino member of the band Black Eyed Peas, Apl.de.Ap, was reported to have a crush on her.

Concepcion seemed surprised when she learned about the report.

"Wow! Well thank you sana ma meet ko siya I've never met him before," she said in an interview at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

Concepcion will be holding a concert in Las Vegas with her mother Sharon Cuneta.

If given a chance, Concpecion said she would love to meet Apl.de.Ap. "Kaya lang sayang. Paalis ako. Papunta naman ako ng Vegas ngayon," she said.

Apl.de.Ap is also scheduled to fly back to Manila on Friday (November 27) to host MYX at the SM Mall of Asia in Parañaque.

Since Concepcion can't find time to meet Apl.de.Ap (born Allan Pineda Lindo) in Manila, she just offered a special birthday message for him. Apl.de.Ap will be turning 35 on Saturday, November 28.

"Apl, happy happy birthday. I wish to meet you one of this days. I'm sorry that I can't be there, but promise me we will get to do a number on a show someday soon," she said.

"Again I'm sorry that I can't be there to sing with you, to perform with you. But I know you (are) gonna have a lot of fun. And hope to meet you somewhere around this world, one of these days," Concepcion said.

Piolo's song for KC

CEBU, Philippines - Piolo Pascual’s newest album, which he co-produced with Star Records, has just been released. Titled “Decades: The Greatest Songs of the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s,” the official album launch will be held on ASAP 09 this coming Sunday featuring his carrier single “Babe.”

Likewise, a music video will be witnessed by the end of the year on Myx and will be seen more often as he is the Myx Celebrity VJ for the month of January. His official website www.mypiolo.com will also be introduced.

This is Piolo’s 6th album under Star Records which showcases his new singing venture as a crooner. “You’ll see me very unusual in this album. If you were accustomed to hearing me sing pop songs, this time I am singing standards,” Piolo shared at the media launch held at ABS-CBN last Wednesday where the handsome actor did several songs from his album. He was only supposed to do two songs but the press people kept asking for more.

“I actually didn’t know I could sing standard songs. But Star Records and Tita Malou (Santos) saw the potential that’s why they planned an album with such concept.”

His much awaited album comes in a classic-inspired packaging which contains 12 of his must-keep photos, lyrics of his featured songs and a calendar. It features the exciting decades of the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s with four tracks each. The selections include (from the 50’s) I’ll Be Seeing You, Beyond The Sea, True Love, Are You Lonesome Tonight; (from the 60’s) Can’t Take My Eyes Off You, You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feeling, If I Fell, Strangers in the Night; (from the 70’s) Just The Way You Are, Your Song, Terminal and Babe.

“We selected the songs very from a long list and I can say that with the line-up we have, hindi mo ito itatapon. And since this is my sixth album, I wanted to come up with something new, which most of you have not heard me sing. Masaya po ako na nakagawa ako nito kasi this is the first time I am singing standards in an album. Ngayon ko lang kinanta ang mga kanta ng tatay ko and I was able to give justice to these songs,” explained Piolo.

The actor-singer said his late father was also a singer and his mom always wanted someone in the family to be a singer. That’s why Piolo is also dedicating this album to his mother. Besides, he liked the concept of “Decades” because it features easy listening music.

“We wanted an album of easy listening music. When I was on my way to Cavite last Sunday, I played four songs straight (True Love, Are You Lonesome Tonight, Strangers in the Night and another one. It was like listening to a lullabye. My personal favorite among the songs in the album is True Love. I didn’t want to record it because I thought it was too boring but when the song was given a different flavor by Jonathan Manalo (my record producer), it became my favorite. Everytime I listen to it, I feel relaxed,” Piolo related.

How is he going to spend the Holidays? “I am going to the States before Christmas but I am going back home to spend Christmas and the New Year here. Iba kasi mamasyal dito. Siguro dito lang ako mamasyal. My mom and my son are in the States but I will be spending time with my family here, plus kung sino ang available na sumama sa akin, siya ang isasama ko, kung nandito po siya,” Piolo said with a chuckle.

How would he feel if he is compared with Richard Poon, who is more known as a crooner?

“Richard is a very good friend of mine. We go the same church. We go to the same small group and he’s my Kuya, in the sense that he knows more about music than me. I asked him what I could do and how I could improve my singing so I don’t see any point of competing with him. In fact, he’s even helped me in some ways when I was doing this album,” said the lead actor of ABS-CBN’s “Lovers in Paris” which ends tonight.

If there’s a song in the album that he would dedicate to KC Concepcion, his co-star in Lovers in Paris, what song would that be?

“Can’t Take My Eyes Off You,” was Piolo’s quick answer. “Dati pa po akong name-mesmerized sa kagandahan niya. She grew up right before our very eyes and it was a big honor for me when I get to know her. I attended her 18th birthday and I sang in her party. Then she left for Paris. I was glad that ABS-CBN fulfilled their promise that I’d be given the opportunity to work with KC in ‘Lovers in Paris.’ There were times na napapatingin lang ako sa kanya kasi ang ganda-ganda niyang babae. I’d love to sing that song to her.”

KC dares take halik challenge

MANILA, Philippines - The newest, coolest dare for the young and young-at-heart is not for those who fidget and hold their breath while in an encounter with the opposite sex. Dubbed as the Closeup Halikmeter Challenge, it is a must-take “rite of passage” of anyone who wants to be in the league of “Certified Closeup Kissables.”

Leading the invitation to take the challenge is KC Concepcion, newest endorser of Closeup with Active Clean Mouthwash who epitomizes what it is to be socially-confident, exuding that wholesome “kissable” personality every young and “kilig-driven” person aspires for.

The next Closeup Halikmeter Challenge invites everyone to measure his level of kissability. The first step begins by accomplishing a “Kissability” quiz which contains questions that assess one’s social style. After ticking the boxes comes the most exciting part. Enter the booth, breathe into the Closeup Halikmeter — an apparatus whose results, handed in privacy, will show the freshness of your breath. Those who aren’t confident enough to take that plunge yet may go to the enclosed brushing area where they can prep themselves up by brushing with Closeup with Active Clean Mouthwash. (Yes, you get to keep the toothbrush.)

Results range from “Halik-shy” (which isn’t bad at all) to the ultimate “Halik-worthy” — the distinction that earns you the high esteem of being in the circle of Certified Closeup Kissables, and perhaps finally gain that confidence to get closer and flash your cutest smile.

Cap the Closeup Halikmeter Challenge by going to the photo
booth and posing with KC while you flash your best Closeup smile.

When I Met U

When I Met U is a 2009 Philippine romantic comedy film directed by Joel Lamangan. The screenplay by Aloy Adlawan was written for Jose Javier Reyes to direct, Reyes later left after "creative difference".

An unlikely romance begins when she hitches a ride with Benjie to attend a wedding in Palawan . On board, they openly show their dislike for each other but when the aircraft crashes in an unknown island, the two turn to each other for comfort and eventually absolve their differences.

Will there be a lasting relationship between these two star-crossed lovers? Knowing that love is not about what is right but what is real, will Benjie and Jenny survive the odds of their relationship?

It deserves more than B."[4]. Mario E. Bautista of the People's Journal said, "it's way much better than their debut movie, 'For the First Time', thanks mainly to the well-written script of Aloy Adlawan". Bautista continues to rain praises acting, as well, "give winning performances". He concludes, claiming that "Richard has done many Valentine movies and this is certainly one of the best. It's as entertaining as his Valentine flick with Marian Rivera last year", which was My Bestfriend's Girlfriend.[5]

Nel Alejandrino of People's Tonight said, "All four are right for the roles they portray. Even the circumstances which allowed total strangers Jenny and Benjie to cross paths, wika nga, is believable." He continues to rave for Iya Villania's performance, claiming she "was a revelation. Ang galing niya bilang mapagmahal at sophisticated na girlfriend ni Richard. Her character personifies the saying that “hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.”" (She's so good at playing a loving and sophisticated girlfriend for Richard). However, he also expressed disappointment on some scenes being too long.

For the First Time (2008 film)

For The First Time is a 2008 Filipino romantic film produced by Star Cinema. It stars Richard Gutierrez and KC Concepcion. The film was shot in the Philippines and in Santorini, Greece.

Synopsis

This movie is all about how people are changed by love. One man is changed from his bohemian lifestyle of meeting and leaving women anytime he feels like it, into considering a life of commitment. The other is a woman who refuses the feeling of falling in love and suppresses her emotions by putting up a facade of work and civility. The effort between following one's emotion and the desire to comply with one's mission is strongly highlighted by the romantic sunsets, awe-inspiring views and diverse landscapes provided by the Greek island of Santorini.

“For the First Time” follows the lives of two teenagers from very different worlds. Seth (Richard Gutierrez) is a rich, impulsive playboy who runs away from serious relationships and doesn’t give much thought to the women he goes out with, and Pia (KC Concepcion), a prude, ambitious girl who feels responsible for the tragedy she once encountered, and with a scar to constantly remind her about this unfortunate experience. But when the two accidentally meet in Santorini, their differences did not stop them from spending one unforgettable summer together—that is until Seth runs away again, scared of the very unusual feeling that is happening within him.

This struggle between emotional attraction and rational repulsion is further enhanced when Seth comes back to Manila and tries his best to again cross his path with Pia and regain her affection.

Will he succeed? Can the womanizer Seth prove to have changed into a one-woman guy? As the two realize that they cannot easily prevent the mysterious strategies of love of keeping them together, they also cannot avoid the consequences of their past and their families’ discomfort with each other. The conflicts in land ownership and businesses of their parents are now parts of a wall that is growing in between them.

What will prevail? Is it love or is it reason? Can Pia let go of her past once and for all and have the confidence to choose the life she’s been dreaming to have? The whole story is a romantic fondue of love and the transformation it brings with all the conflicts and uncertainties being changed into a mixture of pleasant emotions and relationships.
